Patient Labs: Nursing Home of the Future
The Business Innovation Factory is partnering with Tockwotton Home, Quality Partners of Rhode Island and the MIT AgeLab to create a real-world laboratory for developing and testing new solutions, products and models for improving elderly care. Leveraging the BIF Experience Lab platform, the "Nursing Home of the Future" will create a forum for innovators and industry partners to transform current approaches to elderly care, provide a roadmap for redesigning next generation solutions and help companies and care providers deliver better value to the burgeoning elderly population. Patient Labs: Trauma Bay of the Future
In a small, often-crowded room in a hospital's emergency department, teams of doctors and nurses must seize a brief opportunity to save a patient's life after a serious injury or major medical event. These trauma or resuscitation "bays" are complex and critical environments that must be optimized for fast and effective treatment. [ more ]
Student Labs: Big Picture Company/BIF Education Laboratory
The Big Picture Company and the Business Innovation Factory (BIF) announced a partnership to create an experimental platform for testing new approaches in education. Through this alliance, The Big Picture Company, a nationally recognized leader in education innovation, will partner in the build-out of BIF's Student Experience Lab and expand its efforts to create new models for teaching and learning. Patient Labs: Primary Care Practice of the Future
Business Innovation Factory launched our Primary Care Practice of the Future project in 2006, with the goal of finding the right mix of innovations in the Primary Care system to create significantly better outcomes in Patient Satisfaction, Health & Wellness, and overall health care cost and utilization. Citizen Labs: Port Security Partnership
The Business Innovation Factory (BIF) has partnered in a unique port security communications demonstration project funded by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. The network will allow government agencies and emergency personnel to share and distribute and use real-time text, voice, and video data in Narragansett Bay. [ more ]
Student Labs: BIF – FIRST Statewide Robotics Program
The FIRST Vex™ Challenge (FVC) is a mid-level robotics competition for high-school students. It offers the traditional challenge of a FIRST competition but with a more accessible and affordable robotics kit. In October 2006, the Business Innovation Factory and the Rhode Island Science and Technology Advisory Council partnered to offer Dean Kamen's FIRST Vex™ Challenge to each of Rhode Island's 67 public high schools, charter schools, and career and technical centers.
